AMAZON was Started in a Garage

top sellingAmazon was first incorporated into a company July 1994 by Jeffrey Preston Bezos. He liked the name Amazon taken from the African river river cause it sounded elequent therefore he name his company Amazon. His business first went online on July 16, 1995 under the name of Cadabra. Bezos knew that online retailing was going to be a very lucrative market.  So he quit his job as vice-president of the Wall Street firm of D.E. Shaw & Co. He then drove from New York to Seattle in order to relocate and wrote his business plan along the way.

Jeff Bezos started Amazon from his garage just like other famous founders such as Apple, Mattel and a few others. His first product that he sold were books. Amazon.com quickly became one of the largest bookstores in the world. The first book sold was entitled Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought, by Douglas Hofstadter. Jeff Bezos would eventually sell everything henceforth his company becoming what it is today Amazon.com.

The Fourth most valuable public company in the world

wikipedia –

“Amazon has separate retail websites for the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, Japan, China, India, and Mexico. Amazon also offers international shipping to certain other countries for some of its products. In 2016, Dutch, Polish, and Turkish language versions of the German Amazon website were launched.

In 2015, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuable retailer in the United States by market capitalization. Amazon is the fourth most valuable public company in the world, the largest Internet company by revenue in the world and the eighth largest employer in the United States. In 2017, Amazon announced their plans to acquire Whole Foods Market for $13.4 billion by the end of the year, which would vastly increase Amazon’s presence as a physical retailer. The acquisition was interpreted by some as a direct attempt to challenge Walmart as a physical store.”
